Washing Machine Installation
I appreciate that many of you are seasoned house movers capable of the DIY approach to washing machine installation.
A washing machine is one of the few appliances that you do not have to be Corgi registred in order to install. Throughout my career I have performed installations many times, I always take it seriously and take the necessary precautions.
I turn the water off at the mains first before carrying out installations. Home owner knowledge is important to me and it is useful information for me if you know where your stop cock is. Once the machine is properly installed I turn the water back on.
For anyone else planning to disconnect or install water fed appliances, I always recommend doing the same. Turn the water off at the mains. I use a spirit level to make sure that installations are level.
In my toolbag I carry jubilee clips for attaching waste water pipes and water feed blanking caps for an extra level of protectiion when a property is likely to be vacant for some time with no appliances connected. They are brass caps which screw on to the water feed.
