Garden Ornament Sealing

I have been a fan of garden ornaments for a long time and I have a collection in my garden. My professional statue sealing service is tailored towards clients who want to preserve their garden ornaments structurally from cracking and protect the paintwork from peeling.

The materials I work with are concrete, cast stone, terrecota and resin because they benefit from being sealed to protect them from erosion, freeze thaw cycles and UV rays.

I weatherproof garden ornament collections with a high quality marine grade clear sealant which is designed for the purpose and which does not affect appearance in any way. This way garden ornaments can continue to look the way they were intended to look for years to come rather than succum to the forces of nature.

Not all garden ornaments require sealing. Durable stones like granite and jade, do not require sealing and some statuary looks at its' best when allowed to weather and grow moss. Staddle stones (sandstone mushrooms) and millstones I feel develop a rustic charm when just left alone. Moss can still grow on a sealed statue, its just that any moss before it would have to be removed before sealing.

Erosion from water and wind can blur the finer features of statues, noses can start to look flat, as can hair, on some old statues you can even see the aggregate from the original mix peaking through. Frost thaw cycles are caused by water getting into a concrete or cast stone ornament in winter, freezing and then expanding leaving hairline fractures in the statue. This is preventable with a sealer.

Outdoor resin statues are hollow on the inside and they are not as durable as other ornaments. They benefit from being sealed but to set the expectation, whilst sealing, does give them more longevity and keep the colours looking vibrant, eventually all resin statues become brittle and prone to cracking much sooner than a concrete garden otnament.

You are more than welcome to use this service in combination with any of the other services that I offer. The sealant that I use is very durable and can be effective for between 5 - 10 years. In my garden, I have a collection of over 30 garden onaments, all have been sealed.

If you are fond of your garden ornaments and you would like to preserve them for years to come by having them professionally sealed, feel free to get in touch. I use a high quality marine grade polyurethane sealer designed to be clear so that it protects the statue without changing its appearance. I have both matte and gloss in stock. I mostly use matte, but I sealed my porch geese using gloss and it has given them a glazed look which looks good.

Statue size and the number of statues to be sealed reflect on price.
