House Clearance

The way that I believe a house clearance ought to be carried out, differs quite dramatically from the companies out there who arrive in big sign written vans to perform an impersonal service. If you are recently bereaved, may I offer you my deepest condolences. It is ok to call me however far along you are in clearing a loved ones home. One of the ways I may be able to assist in the earlier stages, is by transporting the items which family members are keeping to their homes. If required Iam also able to deliver items to auction houses, or to charities on your behalf if you make an appointment.

I will never rush you, I understand it can be emotionally challenging to arrange a house clearance of a family member. I use a non sign written van as I feel it is more discreet and more befitting to resist the use of sign writing. My website, my business cards and my reputation are my way of communicating with all of you, along with my up to date 2023 portfolio.

It's o.k if you don't have a full house to clear, I do part clearances and I am able to just clear a garage, dismantle a shed, demolish an old prefabricated garage or tackle an overgrown garden using my collection of petrol driven gardening tools.

What you can expect from me on clearance day, is the peace of mind you get from knowing that you are trusting your clearance to someone who has received removals industry training and who is an experienced house clearer. But, most importantly to someone who will always turn up once a booking has been confirmed. In contrast to the impersonal approach, I never forget that I am clearing a property which may up until recently, be a place that someone called home. Because of this, I believe that everything ought to be done with dignity and respect. Sometimes large items of furniture being disposed of like wardrobes require to be dismantled either because they were assembled in the room and are too large to exit, or to create space in the van. Unlike some companies who may carry a large item to their van and then proceed to dismantle it next to their vehicle because its easier that way, I think that shows a lack of sensitivity to the situation and for this reason if I need to dismantle anything, I always do it indoors.

The most common question I get asked is " How does it work" and so I will answer that. I do a variety of clearance work, here my answer specifically refers to bereavement clearances, but if you are not bereaved much of this will also apply to you too. After families have had plenty of time together to decide what it is has been necessary to earmark for disposal and after they have had time to remove the items of sentimental value to them. As I am old fasioned, I then arrange a suitable date and time for a viewing which I still believe is the best way forward. However, I realise that isn't always possible because clients are living out of the area or overseas. For those clients I would like to let you know that I am available to video chat online, alternatively a walk through video, or photos of the property to be cleared sent to me via e mail or whattsapp should suffice in order for me to offer my most affordable fully inclusive quotation. If it so happens that there are items in the property with residual value in them, then that value will be offset against disposal costs and this will be reflected in the quotation you recieve.

I am not an antique dealer or collectables specialist with a shop. If you have antiques or collectables which you would like to be valued, I recommend you seek out the services of a professional valuer. I donate bric a brac, clothes, books, furniture to the Sue Ryder charity shop. But, if a client has a preferred charity of choice with a local drop off point, I am more than willing to load up the items the charity has agreed to except and deliver them on their behalf of my clients once they have arranged a suitable time to drop off with the charity of choice.

I use two sizes of van to carry out my work. My long wheelbase van is quite versatile at only 4.5 metres in length and can access places where no lorry could go. I always aim to complete my clearance work on the same day.
